Welcome to Department 10 of the Faculty for Production Engineering at the University of Bremen.

The department’s research focus lies in the development of sustainable approaches to design which are based on the precautionary principle and build on classical models of technology assessment.

The department explores this subject, in particular, through the concept of Industrial Ecology (IE) and across 3 fields of research:

IE & Urban + Regional Development

IE & Production - Risk + Foresight

IE & Design + Development

In addition to this the department is also actively involved in the development of new methods, in particular, relating to the integration of entropy as a general measure for resource consumption in life cycle assessment methods.
